History of the Third Reich (HST 603 / CHST 603)
Ryerson University - Toronto
Instructor: Peter Vronsky  [ home page

NOTE:  All internet sources should be approached with caution.  University and school system based sites (.edu and some .org) and sites delivering copies of primary sources are more reliable, but not completely.  Information derived from the Internet should be cross-checked and verified through multiple sources before being trusted.  Do not automatically accept and believe anything you read on the Internet or for that matter, in books and other print as well (and obviously television documentaries.)  The most reliable print sources on Third Reich history are recently published academic books and journal articles issued by academic publishers with stringent peer review.   Some academic histories are also issued by commercial publishers as well.   This is not intended to dismiss non-academic histories, among which there are many excellent works, but those should be always approached with caution -- and not at all if they do not provide extensive footnoting and sources.   The best research strategy, as difficult as it is, is to always attempt to trace a statement back to its source and review it in the context it appeared in the source cited and further review that source's source, etc.

These are some available sources on Third Reich history and their quality ranges from excellent to awful.  The inclusion of any source on this list is not to be interpreted as endorsement of a site's reliability or of its content.
